JP Student Video Proposal
- Eesh was available for questions (short discussion on addressee line for the letter)
- Discussion:
- Letter is very well written, formatted
- We all approve and are happy to have our stamp on it
Jelly Talks with SSF
- Include announcement that SSFs will be joining us for Jelly Talk
- [Victoria] Send an email to Chrissy to determine whether there will be an opportunity for SSFs to give Jelly Talks, or whether we should dedicate some time for SSFs to present
New Student Support/Activities this Summer
- New cohort of students will be onboarded (virtually) next week
- Students joining this summer have been added to academic/disciplinary listserv (including department listservs)
- Lea will follow up about adding fall students to the informal lists (wait for the academic lists until they’ve been onboarded)
- Reps might want to take on a cohort building activity for early/mid summer
- Each department can host a “welcome” icebreaker for students in June
- [Lauren can reach out] We can coordinate and support the nudibranch cohort for them to host a large Zoom meeting later in the summer July/August
JP Kayaks
- Kalina and Lauren have been coordinating with Mallory
- Kalina has found community members willing to do a (virtual) training for students this year (1hr briefing once a year)
- Ideally we can facilitate an increased number of resources for students; we will likely not force anyone to see the training, but it will be embedded in the safety materials
- We won’t make the checkout virtual; but we can add some small changes to the checkout to make everything a little safer (add an emergency contact column, add a “checklist” set of safety acknowledgements)
- [Kalina and Lauren] will follow-up with Mallory to continue the discussion
JP Gear
- Just an update: things will be moving on this soon! Volunteers will be coordinated with this week.
Next Meeting
