Agenda

  • Virtual ideas
    • Cooking classes or art classes, funding for food
    • Funding for pizza party night, everyone orders their own food
      • CDC Guidelines: Move your food onto your own plate, wash hands as clean as possible

(Lea) This website has some fun ideas like bingo, pixel art, coffee/tea tastings https://museumhack.com/virtual-team-building-for-remote-teams/ . here are some other ideas i’ve been thinking of:

  • I’ve been having a friends night in and we are having a different theme each week like (wear something in your closet that you never get to wear)
  • Board game like trivial pursuit or any trivia or board game that works
  • chop -style cookoff pick 4 pantry items and judge on presentation and creativity
  • Book club and discussion
  • Netflix party using chrome. A netflix user can invite folks to watch a movie and chat
  • Something like an around the world game where one person gives clues about a place or landmark and others guess then you show your screen of your place or landmark. Could have a different theme each week.
  • Karaoke night
  • Clarification, how much should we be sending people things?
  • Starting Jelly talks early?
  • Update on swag ideas/revisiting jp gear logistics
  • Keeping APO in the loop about virtual community building (Lea)
  • Panteleyev award nominations. Please nominate and encourage your peers

  • BIG Funding Request

Notes

  • Virtual Ideas
    • Could send out ideas for funding to the JP crew
    • Logistics for funding/events/food/”stuff transfer”
      • We should likely encourage good practice — draft some guidelines for events (maybe post on the website for temporary guidelines)
      • Lea and Kris can check-in with Covid 19 teams about best practices regarding funding for take-out, groceries
        • We could likely provide a $$ amount for a set of grocery items
        • But ideally, we’re thinking about things that are cheap/free, affordable and hyping those types of events
      • Should check-in with Kris about how to make the reimbursement process work going forward (how to handle original receipts, particularly)
        • May have to wait to reimburse people
        • Can reimburse in unique ways (e.g., credits toward swag)
    • Starting Jelly Talks early?
      • Maybe include this in the ideas list
    • Action Items (all in “Virtual Tasks” folder)
      • Check-in with Kris about reimbursement procedure moving forward (Kalina)
      • Add temporary event guidelines/ideas to the website and in an email (Victoria can update website)
        • Include links to best practices for exchanging physical items, etc.
        • Include being conscientious of sourcing
      • Send email about ideas (by tomorrow afternoon) out to the JP (Kalina++)
        • Link to Canopy
        • Link to funding page (which will get updated soon)
        • Facilitate Jelly Talk Scheduling
  • JP Swag
    • A handful of ideas submitted
    • Will re-hype this week
    • And will ask for volunteers
  • Keeping APO in the loop about community building events
    • Can we send a little digest to APO so that they know what is going on? Otherwise APO has no idea (since they are not in the informal JP internal lists)
    • Lauren can send a 2-wk digest to Lea
  • Panteleyev Award Nomination
    • Encourage peers to submit nominations
    • Can forward email that Meg sent out (Kalina)
  • BIG Funding Request
    • Virtual outreach stickers; used within the group and outside of the group
    • BIG is getting a logo; working with WHOI media team on videos as well for branding and development
    • Curriculum development and publishing; 1-2 hour activities
      • Exhibition center would be the ones distributing a lot of these resources to broader audience
    • Funding approved (falls under request cap and majority approved verbally during meeting)
  • Department Care Packages/Department Generals Support
    • Reminder for department REPS to reach out and support their generals students
    • Each department gets $200 for department-specific events
    • (Kalina) will email PO and MG&G departments to check-in
  • Next Meeting
    • May 4, 9-10AM (if virtual, via Zoom)
