25-08-15 Working Meeting Minutes

Attendance: Rilee Thomas, Natalie Hummel, Hiroki Nagao, Paige Pfenniger, Lilli Enders, Jenn Necker 

Missing: Miah Manning, Bailey Fluegel 

Last working meeting (?)!!! 

  1. Met with Serena and Adam, they will present more info re: dinghy at the general meeting 5th Sept
  • Rilee: Adam and Serena are aware of Tricia/Reps concerns, they will join at the next general meeting to address concerns, we can make the decision at that time. 
  1. Met with Ann and Jennifer Almeda-Garrett, fixes to JEDI dashboard – Hiroki (I’m still working on it)
    1. JP ASK FAQs – who to reach out to about updating these?
    2. Grassroots initiatives since 2020 – highlighting on the site initiatives taken on by students relating to DEI (without saying as much), getting involved with community development at WHOI/MIT – anyone remember any examples?
  • Rilee: Lots of changes to be made. Rilee will put together a document and meet with Hiroki to go over.
  • Hiroki: I’ve also uploaded all the available photos on the website. 
  • Rilee: I will finish up the dashboard. Does anyone know who is responsible for the JPASK FAQs? 
  • Hiroki: We could reach out the Katie Squires
  • Rilee: Does anyone know anything about the “grassroots initiatives” section? Will archive for now, but if anyone has examples/ideas of recent initiatives, let me know. Maybe JP buddies or SSF mentors?
  • Jenn: I’m not sure who’s responsible for the buddies, but could be a good idea to put the SSG mentors up there. 
  1. Nominations are out for next reps
    1. Close Aug 29th
    2. Previously, those who didn’t win the dept rep election would then go into at-large rep election
    3. Last year only PO had elections, so will depend on number of people interested in positions
    4. Elections (if any) week of Sept 1st
    5. Aug 29th – dept reps to reach out to those nominated to ask whether they accept their noms. I’ll send a reminder beforehand

  • Rilee: I will keep up with the nominations, if a department has multiple nominees who are interested, then proceed with elections. After the 29th, department reps will reach out to nominees in their department to see if they accept the nomination. 
  1. Last reps solicited GSC Rep nominations. Miah reach out to Mallory and ask if she intends on continuing in the position?
    1. Possible new nominations early Sept
  • Action Item (MIAH) Reach out to Mallory to see if she is willing to do another year (if this is possible), or if we need to move forward with elections for a new GSC rep.

  • Rilee: Will make a transition document, everyone can look over afterwards. 
  1. Are we still budgeting $300/semester to Coffee O for buffins fairies?
  • Paige: Yes! Also, Jenn put in an RFP for buffins at some point.
  • Jenn: Yes, that was for set up. I will find new buffins fairies and get things set up for the fall next week.
