The JP Reps are very excited to invite you to the return of the JP Winter Retreat! Held annually since 2006 (but on pause since 2020), Winter Retreat is an opportunity for JP students from both the MIT and WHOI campuses to get to know each other by spending a weekend in a beautiful snowy location enjoying winter activities together. This year’s retreat will be held the first weekend of the spring semester, February 10-12, 2023 – signup details are below. We hope to see you there!
Where will the retreat be held?
The retreat will be held at River House, South Tamworth in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire (~2.5 hours drive from Boston, 4 hours from Woods Hole). The house is about 30 miles directly east of the MITOC Camelot Cabin. It is located down a quiet country road and is on 78 acres of woodland. There is a river running directly in front of the house. We will organize carpools from both campuses and drivers will be reimbursed for gas.
Check out this link for pictures of the house and the attached PDF for more details. Please note that while there are a number of beds in the house, in order to accommodate a large group of students, some of us will need to bring sleeping pads/bags or air mattresses to sleep in the common spaces.
What will the retreat consist of?
Three days of fun and games with your fellow JP-ers! Activities at past retreats have included downhill/cross-country skiing, hiking, snow-shoeing, visits to a local meadery, board games, movie nights, and more.
Who is invited?
All members of the WHOI Student Organization, including MIT-WHOI JP students and enrolled spouses, partners, and affiliates, may sign up to attend.
How do I sign up?
Fill out this Google Form by January 16 in order to reserve your spot. We are asking for $30 per participant coming for the weekend to supplement costs to the JP Reps including the house rental & cleaning fee, meals, and driver reimbursements. After January 16 we will send out an email to registrants confirming your status (registered or waiting list) and will provide details for making a cash or Venmo payment.
