  • (5 min) Follow up on last meeting action items 
  • (1 min) JP Jobs - respond to Ann
    • We’re not on the jp-jobs listserv?
    • Jp-jobs list not necessarily useful for most jp students unless they’re graduating soon
    • Maybe modify to ‘early-career-jobs’ to include post-docs, techs, SSFs
    • Kharis: respond to Ann with these suggestions
  • (15 min) Funding requests
    • *Funding disparity between WHOI & MIT social events
      • Encourage more MIT-based students to requests funds for events
      • Unlikely to run out of money for the year
    • AcadeMIA Table Read Dinner
      • Cheaper meal option - pizza instead of golden swan ($10-12 pp ideal)
      • Not individually-portioned meals, open to all
      • Nadege: email Max - will fund the meal (if cheaper), ask for it to be open to all and ask about potential future funding requests
    • Stretching for the Stressed
      • Survey students for general interest & if people have their own yoga mats
      • Trial run events for a week or two to see what real interest is before buying mats (this was done last year for the JP dance floor)
      • Fund snacks for the first one?

    • January Social Hour - skip january pizza at WHOI, no bus running
      • Movie nights at WHOI & MIT- popcorn & soda is cheaper
  • (10 min) Winter retreat (Feb 10-12)
    • Natalie: Send out registration form
    • Point people - Nadege, Natalie, Anthony
      • Annaliese wants to help plan but not as a point person
    • Commitment form
      • Add Q about where they’re coming from (WHOI or MIT)
      • Add Q if the cost is an issue, let us know
      • Plan for 35-40 people
      • Plus ones are now part of WHOI student community (decide later if we want to change how priority is assigned)
    • Planning cars/food/activities - after sign-ups are done
  • (15 min) Open house (March 13-14)
    • Monday at MIT, monday night bus to WHOI, tuesday at WHOI
    • Open house committee
      • Megan, Natalie - talk more about this in slack
      • Outside reps - 2 people interested so far
      • Megan/Natalie: JP-wide email advertising open house and the committee; note that in the future we’ll ask for student help running events
    • Scope of what the reps/committee are responsible for
      • Tricia: send email to us in the future outlining this
  • (4 min) Winter meeting 
    • Is late march too soon after open house?
    • Will have different point people for winter meeting: Kharis & Annaliese
    • Too soon for APO - early or mid april → Spring meeting
      • Tricia: ask APO when would be a good time for this, let us know
    • Open house will be slightly less work for reps this year by adding committee
  • (5 min) Open Czar positions
    • Buffins - urgently needed before bus starts again
    • Stickers and other swag - 1 interested
    • Open house committee - 2 interested
    • Cora: send out reminder email, reframe that this is open to MIT students too and it’s a good way to be involved in the JP community

    • Emphasis on this for next working meeting
    • Little interest so far - could open up to post-docs, other people in depts
    • Can be international
